"The Blueprint"

The Blueprint for Maryland schools is transformational in expanding opportunity for all students! I marched, lobbied, and testified to help make this happen! The Blueprint will :

Expand Early childhood education by offering more pre-k classes
Establish Community schools in areas of high poverty
Expand Career and Technical Education Programs
Increase pay for teachers.

With your help, I will continue to implement programs that help ALL students!

Accomplishments During My Tenure

Provided over $150 M to build and renovate schools
Implemented the Early College program where students earn college credit
Expanded virtual classes for students across the county
Revised redistricting policy allowing for greater public input
Increased salaries for bus drivers and the American Federation of State County and Municipal Employees (AFSCME) Union employees
Increased Teacher salaries AND signed the first multi-year teacher contract
Implemented new Dance and Agriculture programs

Health & Safety

Throughout my term on the Board, I have provided funding for:

More counselors to help kids deal with increased pressure in their lives
Programs that increase security in every school
Programs to help parents and students manage stress
Continuing programs on managing emotions and conflicts
Programs on online safety
Cameras for every new school bus
Increased mental health services available to students and staff

The Code of Student Conduct MUST BE APPLIED consistently at every school Students, Teachers and Parents need to be HELD ACCOUNTABLE for their actions that disrupt learning
CCPS provides a STRUCTURE so all children can learn
All stakeholders need to have CIVILITY and respect each other
DISCIPLINE starts at home and must be reinforced in school

It takes all of us working together to ensure the safety of our children
